Biography
Dr. Mohamed Al-Garhy is a Consultant Psychiatrist and head of Chemical dependency Unit, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, United Arab Emirates. He has more than 25 years experience in General Adult Psychiatry and substance misuse. Following training and specialization, he served as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director in Al-Amal Hospital in Damam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and as a consultant Psychiatrist in Devon Partnership NHS Trust in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the editorial board of The Psychiatric Bulletin of The Royal College of Psychiatrists UK, and was an adjunct assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the UAE University from 2013 to 2016. He was a Clinical/Educational Supervisor for trainees in South West rotational scheme in Psychiatry from South West Peninsula Postgraduate Medical Education, Devon, UK. Currently he is a faculty Member & Member of Clinical Competency Committee in Psychiatric Residency Program, Education Institute, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi. He supervises and trains residents allocated to Chemical Dependency Unit for postgraduate training and specialization in Psychiatry. He also lectures on Chemical Dependency for United Arab Emirates University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences undergraduate students. Dr. Al-Garhy maintains memberships in both regional and national medical societies and regulatory bodies, including the General Medical Counsel in the UK, Devon Medical Society and Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK. He has published in professional medical journals and is a frequent lecturer on topics of substance misuse.
