Market analysis:

The 2014 USA National Survey on Drug Use and Health announced that 17.5% of adults with a mental illness had a co-occurring substance use disorder. This affects 7.98 million people in USA. Estimation of psychiatric disorders in Canada is very high, with an estimated 40-60% of adults with severe mental illness experiencing a substance use disorder in their life. A survey in the United States attempting to assess the prevalence of dual diagnosis found that 77% of clients with schizophrenia had a substance misuse disorder in their life.

In Australia, extent of substance misuse of 30% chronically mentally ill patients. Clinical trials reveals, around a third of the population effected with drug addiction leads to mental illness.

UK studies have shown slightly high rate of substance misuse among mentally ill persons. Research states that individuals suffering from schizophrenia showed just a 7% prevalence of problematic drug use.

In London, over the previous 6 months cases of alcohol or substance misuse and dependence were identified by clinical trials. The prevalence rates of dual diagnosis were 33% for the use of any substance, 40% for alcohol misuse and 15% for drug misuse.  Any illicit drug use was observed in 35% of the sample. In 2012, only 15.4% of Americans with co-occurring disorders were receiving both mental health and addictions treatment.

My Dear Researchers,

As a member of organizing committee of the International Conference and Exhibition on Dual Diagnosis, It is my pleasure to invite you to this important event during July 18-19, 2015 at Chicago, USA.

Welcome to an important conference regarding common, problematic drug and alcohol use in psychiatric populations.

We have the opportunity to identify drug and alcohol use and addiction as a cause of psychiatric symptoms. DSM-5 guides us on how to exclude effects of alcohol and drugs before making the correct psychiatric diagnosis. Over 50% of the chronic mentally ill population use drugs and alcohol problematically with adverse consequences. Identification and treatment of alcohol and drug use and addiction are vital to our success in treating these people. We are in a unique position to improve and save lives.

The Conference, hosted by the OMICS International Organization, will include workshops, presentations and forums dedicated to sharing skills and understanding in the treatment of all addictive disorders, including alcohol and other drugs, behavioral addictions, and the emerging field of online compulsive behavior in both adults and children.

A priority aim of this Conference will also be to deepen our understanding around the interrelationship of addictive disorders between each other, as well as with mental health, Addiction Psychiatry, family, community, and culture.

The Conference promotes and encourages participation from all parts of the sector towards a shared appreciation of what medical, psycho-social and peer-based approaches can offer, through the experiences of service users, clinicians, and researchers alike.

I am very happy and delighted to participate at this event and anticipate interesting discussion with my colleagues at Chicago in Dual Diagnosis Conference.

Once again I am delighted to invite you to support us in this conference.

With Regards
